About the Company

Takeda is a global biopharmaceutical leader headquartered in Japan with operations spanning North America, Europe, and Asia. Analytics are critical to nearly every aspect of the business—from research and development to manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain operations, and commercial performance.

As part of its vision to become one of the world’s leading digital biopharmaceutical companies, Takeda launched an enterprise-wide initiative to modernize its analytics platform by migrating from Qlik Sense on-premises to Qlik Cloud.

The Challenge

Takeda’s decentralized operating model enabled business units around the world to develop analytics independently. While this flexibility supported innovation, it also created a complex analytics environment consisting of thousands of applications, inconsistent governance practices, and aging infrastructure.

The organization faced several significant challenges:

1

More than 10,000 analytics applications requiring migration

2

Decentralized analytics teams across multiple global regions

3

Limited internal experience with enterprise-scale Qlik Cloud migrations

4

Legacy applications requiring optimization before cloud deployment

5

Complex AWS integration and pharmaceutical governance requirements

6

A need to demonstrate measurable business value and return on investment before launching the program

Takeda needed an experienced partner capable of managing the technical complexity while minimizing disruption to a business that depends on trusted analytics every day.

The Solution

DI Squared partnered with Takeda to design and execute a phased enterprise migration strategy that balanced speed, governance, and long-term scalability.

The engagement included:

  • Enterprise cloud architecture design
  • Global migration roadmap for more than 10,000 analytics applications
  • Application assessment, remediation, and optimization
  • Cloud readiness planning and application right-sizing
  • AWS integration and governance framework development
  • Executive business case and ROI analysis
  • Ongoing governance processes for application lifecycle management

As applications were assessed, DI Squared identified outdated, oversized, and underutilized assets that could be archived, rebuilt, or optimized before migration. The engagement also established a repeatable governance process that Takeda continues to use through regular application health reviews and optimization efforts.

Beyond delivering the migration, DI Squared became a long-term strategic advisor, helping Takeda maximize the value of its cloud analytics investment while preparing the organization for advanced analytics and AI capabilities.

Client Perspective
